Parris Smith is a 2010 graduate of Lorain County Early College High School. We checked in with her to see what she’s up to now!

My name is Parris Smith. I attended Early College High School at Lorain County Community College, graduating in 2010 with my diploma and Associate of Arts degree. I continued my post secondary education at Lorain County Community College (LCCC) earning my Associate of Science and through the University partnership with Cleveland State University I graduated Magna Cum Lauda with my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology in 2013.

Upon graduation, I decided to take a semester off and decide which direction I would take in my educational journey, focusing on specific career goals and what course of action to take. During this time, I continued to work as a manager and student coordinator for the Mercy Rising Star Medical Internship Program where I realized that I enjoy working with people and helping the less fortunate, underrepresented populations, which led me to decide on my career aspirations.

In 2014, I enrolled at Walden University for graduate school in order to pursue a Masters in Science Psychology that focuses on Public Administration and Social Change. I expect to graduate in the Spring of 2016.

I am currently employed as a Project Ready Manager at the Lorain County Urban League, located in Elyria, Ohio, where I have been working since June of 2015. I love working with the youth! It allows me a make a positive impact in our local communities.

I look forward to expanding my career after graduation.
